Starting in 1960, Manjhi tirelessly worked day and night, chiseling away at the rock, facing immense challenges such as harsh weather, lack of proper tools, and social ridicule. Despite the odds stacked against him, he remained undeterred in his mission. After 22 years of relentless labor, he successfully carved a 360-foot-long, 30-foot-wide road through the mountain, reducing the distance between his village and the nearest town from 70 kilometers to just 1 kilometer.
